Physical Therapy

Katie’s physical therapy (PT) is going very well. Her teacher is very nice and fits well with our personalities. We meet twice a month and we started again last week once Katie was cleared from surgery. Now that Katie is starting to be able to do things, we are practicing many positions and activities.

Her teacher is very happy with her progress towards holding her head steady, and how well she tolerates tummy and side time. We have noticed that Katie has a left side preference, looking that direction, rolling that direction, watching that hand, sleeping facing that direction, etc. We are really working on focusing on the right side to reduce this preference and balance her out.

I know that I will rapidly forget all the little things that I have been taught to watch for and encourage Katie to do, so here are some pictures!

Belly time, positioning on top of her arms and hands, to encourage her to push up with her arms and continue to strengthen her neck.  Pre-crawling skills.

Side-time, me stabilizing her leg or hip to allow her to focus on toys

 Side-time, hands working together

Side-time, hands together, toy in her mouth

Side-time, holding the weight of the toy and tracking with her eyes

Side time, good side position, both hands working together on toy

    1. Go Team Nathan! I finally fit in it. I wasn't very smart to get a medium athletic shirt when I was pregnant, but it was a fun reward when it finally fit!

  2. Thank you for sharing. I'll be doing these activites with Rosalyn :) She seems to like her right side the most so we will try the left side more. I'm excited! Your blog encourages me. Thank you for sharing.
