Giggles & Rolls!

I have been lucky to get some videos.  I didn't know this about myself, but apparently my voice goes up 3 octaves when playing with Katie...!

Katie started giggling on February 4th.

Katie started rolling consistently on February 18th.

3 month appointment

Katie had a 3 month appointment with the pediatrician. Usually the schedule is for 2 months then 4 months. However, Katie didn’t get her 2 month vaccines because it was within a week of her surgery. The heart lung machine cleans the blood and would have removed any immunity she built up from the shots, so we were advised to wait. So we had a makeup appointment and this allowed her doctor to have a surgery follow-up as well.

Katie is now 10lbs! She lost a little weight from her surgery but she has made it all back and is still on her growth curve, as if she never had the surgery. I knew she was eating a ton!

She got all her vaccines (three shots) and an oral one. They gave her the oral vaccine first, and the nurses usually drip the fluid into the baby’s mouth. Katie, however, was hungry and sucked the vaccine out of the dispenser. The nurse was very surprised.

I also learned that Katie can fly! The doctor wanted to check her strength so held her in the air, facing down, with Katie balancing on her chest in the doctor’s hand. Katie held her head up and looked around the room. She loves to fly and she passed the strength test.

Valentine's Day

(I originally posted this on facebook but I have an extra picture for blog friends!)

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, exactly four weeks from Katie's surgery, and her last scab disappeared! The day has a much greater meaning after experiencing a literally broken heart, the wonders of science, and the amazing people who fix them. Yesterday was also the conclusion of Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week. Seems perfect to celebrate Katie's super duper heart on such a day.

Sister Love

Ellee is a wonderful sister and they love each other soooo much already. They are going to be quite a team. Here are some of my favorite Sister Love photos. They make my heart melt!
