Katie had a 3 month appointment with the pediatrician. Usually the schedule is for 2 months then 4 months. However, Katie didn’t get her 2 month vaccines because it was within a week of her surgery. The heart lung machine cleans the blood and would have removed any immunity she built up from the shots, so we were advised to wait. So we had a makeup appointment and this allowed her doctor to have a surgery follow-up as well.
Katie is now 10lbs! She lost a little weight from her surgery but she has made it all back and is still on her growth curve, as if she never had the surgery. I knew she was eating a ton!
She got all her vaccines (three shots) and an oral one. They gave her the oral vaccine first, and the nurses usually drip the fluid into the baby’s mouth. Katie, however, was hungry and sucked the vaccine out of the dispenser. The nurse was very surprised.
I also learned that Katie can fly! The doctor wanted to check her strength so held her in the air, facing down, with Katie balancing on her chest in the doctor’s hand. Katie held her head up and looked around the room. She loves to fly and she passed the strength test.
